As they reported it themselves, in question 12 — the link each person actually arrived through is recorded separately and the two are compared in the yearly report. All responses, not just the ones who put a book down. Published every edition, because a survey that will not say who answered it is asking to be taken on faith.

Goodreads, “What Makes You Put Down a Book?”, and were read off that image — Goodreads never published them as text, and never published how many members answered. There is therefore no sample size and no margin of error for the 2013 column, and none should be inferred. One figure is misread constantly and is worth stating correctly: their most common single answer about where people stop was “50–100 pages” at 27.9%, but the largest group, 38.1%, said they always finish.
